The companies stem from roots in farming industry stretching back to the early 1900s. The family started farming Old Rides Farm on Sheppey in Kent in 1968. It started dealing in used machinery and founded Burden Bros Machinery in the mid 1970s. During the 1980s the family established Burden Bros Contractors, which operates extensively throughout the south of England. In 2000, they purchased The Ferry House Inn, which today is the centre of their hospitality business, focussing on conferences and wedding functions.
Burden Bros Construction was formed in 2006 – today they build and commission facilities such as AD plants, commercial buildings, farm storage, groundwork and a whole host of specialty projects.
In 2007 John Deere awarded Burden Bros Agri, their first main agricultural and home-owner dealership, opening their dealer activities from Stockbury in Kent, followed by additional territory and facilities at Framfield, East Sussex in 2009 and Ivychurch in Kent in 2016.
